Mr. James “Hub” Arnold Dockery, age 92, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
Mr. Dockery was born in Murphy, N.C. on March 8, 1927 to the late Claude Harvey and Birdie Christy Dockery. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Henry Dockery. On November 20, 1945 Mr. Dockery responded to faithful duty to serve his country in the United States Army. While serving his country on the heels of WWII, he was carefully and diligently discharging the duty of Corporal. He served honorably and was discharged on November 12, 1948.
During the war Mr. Dockery learned auto mechanical and electrical repair. He took his trade to civilian work at the International Harvester Sales and Service in Gainesville, GA. Mr. Dockery then went to Dollar Carburetor and continued his trade. He worked for Story Trucking in Alabama for several years and then worked for himself until he retired. Mr. Dockery loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Dianne and Charles Stephens, Dahlonega, and Debbie and Mike Walters, Cleveland; son Kevin Dockery; grandchildren Jessica Holloway, Sarah Herrin, William Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Rachel Stephens, Jordan Dockery, and Ashley Dockery; great-grandchildren Jayden, Jessie, Josie, Stella, Oliver, Carter, Cash, and Haidyn; nephew Shane Dockery; and niece Mary Ann Dollyhigh.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Nick Rice will officiate. Interment will follow in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to the service hour Friday at the funeral home.
