Frances Cooper Stancil Camp

Frances Cooper Stancil Camp was born December 12, 1927 in Oconee County South Carolina, having lived all of her adult life in Stephens County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Garnet Cooper and Lillie Mae Cooper. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Bill Stancil and her second husband, Frank Camp; two sons, Terry Stancil and Steve Stancil; two sisters Frankie Blackwell and Sandra Powell; and a brother, Wayne Cooper.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, David and Gail Fry of Toccoa;   Son, Dale Stancil of Toccoa;   granddaughters Jennifer Costello (Michael ) of Athens, Lucinda Henson of Toccoa; grandsons, Grant Stancil of North Carolina and Clint Miller; two great grandchildren, Cooper and Charlotte Costello. She has sisters Charleen Isaacs, Jean McLama, and Ola Qualls and brothers, Sam (Charlene) Cooper and Fred (Ruth) Cooper.

Ms. Camp was known as Mema to many because she had the kind of personality that enveloped everyone in love. She was retired from Wright Manufacturing Company and was a former member of the Toccoa Woman’s Club and Garden Club. She was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church of Toccoa and the Willing Worker’s Sunday school class. She loved volunteering and helping others. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed creating unique fashions. When speaking of her children and grandchildren a special light would shine on her face.

The following gentlemen were selected by Ms. Camp to serve as pallbearers: Ron Rider, Joe Sewell, Charlie Cooper, Hank Jarrett, Jeff Blackwell, Wendell Cooper and honorary pallbearer Ronnie Yearwood. The family will be at the home of David and Gail Fry.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 23 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.

The funeral service will be held on Monday February 24, at 11am in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa.

Interment will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree Davis Funeral home in charge of the arrangements for Ms. Frances Cooper Stancil Camp.
