James Kirkley

James Julian Kirkley (Jimmy), 75, of Flowery Branch went to his eternal home on January 20, 2020. He was the husband of Jackie Cofer Kirkley and they shared 37 years together.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Union Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.  Rev. Kenny Sizemore will officiate.  The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the church.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was preceded in death by his parents Colleen Gray, Johnny Kirkley, and his brother Howard Kirkley. He attended Smith High School and served in the Army National Guard. He was employed and retired from Allison Smith Electrical Contractors as a Master Electrician. He was a member of the local union IBEW 613 in Atlanta for over 50 years. Jimmy was a family man that loved his children and simply adored his grandchildren. He loved playing golf with his childhood friends, James Roland and the late Jerry Adams. Football was his favorite pastime and he enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs. Jimmy was a member of Union Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, Georgia. He was a charter member of the American Street Rodders Car Club. He was passionate about classic cars and had a 1940 Ford Coupe once owned by country singer George Jones. He also loved antiquing and shopping with his wife, Jackie.

He is survived by his spouse, Jackie Cofer Kirkley; children, James Christopher Kirkley, Kelley Canady, and Stacey Anne Pearce; as well as stepsons, Jimmy Nall and Tommy Nall. He had 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Grizzle, Ashley Flowe, Hannah Nall, Ava Pearce, Gavin Canady, Hayden Canady, Alexander “Bubba” Pearce and Harper Canady; and great-granddaughter, Raleigh Kate Grizzle.
