Jimmy Leonard Brackett, Sr, age 80, of Cumming, Ga., passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home. Jimmy retired from General Motors and owned several businesses including a car wash, batting cages, driving range and miniature golf. After retiring he worked delivering flowers, at BJs and teaching student drivers. He was a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lieu Weda Brackett; sister, Brenda Voyles; father in law and mother in law, Eugene and Bonita Croy.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Croy Brackett of Cumming; his children, Rocky Brackett of Cumming, Neena and Matthew Payne of Dawsonville, Cloyce Brackett of Canton; grandchildren, Kendra and Clarissa Payne; Brothers and sisters in law, Jackie and Stacy Brackett of Ellijay, Howard and Teresa Brackett of Cumming, Barbara Mischiara of Cumming; nieces and nephews, Lori and Traci Holbrook, Shelley and Chris Stone, Tripp and Val Brackett, Eddie and Ana Brackett, Lee Mischiara, Matt and Raina Crow, Jason Sorrells; special friends, Kim Reid, Leigh Parson, Danny and Linda Miller, Margaret and Malcom Patton; several other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Rob Peters, Rev. Lee Mischiara and Rev. Larry Vaughan officiating. Entombment in Sawnee View Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until hour of service.
