Thomas Lee Warden, March 19th, 1939 – January 14th 2020.
On January 14, 2020, we lost a wonderful Husband and devoted Father, Thomas Lee Warden. His love, kindness, perception and strength was the firm foundation for our family. Tom was a resident of Cumming, Georgia and a member of First Redeemer Church. After graduating from Little Rock Central High School, class of 1957, Tom enlisted in US Army and served as a Paratrooper and Chinese Weapons Specialist with 308th Special Forces Command (Airborne) and 82nd Airborne.
The discipline and patriotism he learned in the United States Army never left him, as friends and family will attest and was the foundation for his successful life and career. After college, he entered into a very rewarding career in heavy industrial, design-built construction, starting as a project manager on petro-chemical, oil refinery and steel mill projects throughout North America and retiring as Vice-President of Corporate Construction Operations. Most notable of the projects he worked on was ATLAS-I, code named “Trestle”, an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) Simulator for Sandia National Laboratories and the United States Air Force Weapons Laboratory at Kirkland AFB, New Mexico. This project is largest wood (dielectric) structure in existence and is designated on National Register of Historical Sites. Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years Anna Kay; son and daughter-in-law Tom and Debbie Warden, of Gainesville, Georgia: daughter Lori A. Warden, of Suwanee, Georgia: son Jason A. Warden, of Cumming, Georgia.
The family will receive friends, Friday, January 24 beginning at 1:30PM, followed by the Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home at 3PM. The Rev. Mike Schmid will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be gifted to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org). Condolences may be expressed at www.mcdonaldandson.com .
