Nickey Robert Carswell

Mr. Nickey Robert Carswell, age 69 of Austell passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, Austell, Georgia.

A son of the late Robert Vernon Carswell and Cleo Virginia Garland Parker, he was born September 29, 1950 at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta. He was the oldest of two children. He loved baseball. The NY Mets were going to sign him up for the Major Leagues but instead, he got drafted in the Army and served his country during Vietnam. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Buchanan, Georgia.

Survivors include his sister, Deborah Renee Chastain of Douglasville; nephews, Mickey Lee Malone and Lonnie Lawrence Waller; niece, Renee Leigh Malone; aunt, Jean Scott of Toccoa and a number of cousins.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 18, 2020, 2 O’clock p.m. at Chopped Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Jimmy Lemmings officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Mickey Lee Malone, Lonnie Lawrence Waller, Keaton Waller, Anthony Tidwell, David Carswell and Jimmy Lemmings.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Interment will follow in the Chopped Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Nickey Robert Carswell.
