Lawrence Edward Lay

Mr. Lawrence Edward Lay age 84 of Gainesville, Ga passed away on Friday January 10, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.  

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday January 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Darryl Dale and Reverend Bradley Elliott will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 12, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.   

Lawrence was born on July 29, 1935 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late George David Lay and Lillie Mae Pruitt Lay. Lawrence was retired from General Motors and was a member of New Holland Baptist Church. Mr. Lay is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles William Lay, Harold Hilliard Lay and George David Lay, Jr.    

Mr. Lay is survived by his wife,  Geraldine Vismor Lay of Gainesville, son, Robert Lynn Jimerson of Gainesville, daughter, Cheryl Wynn Fowler of Union City, Tennessee, daughter, Tracy Lay Yockel of Gainesville, daughter, Terry Lay Holden of Gainesville, daughter, Donna Whitmire of Gainesville, grandchildren, Robert Jimerson, Jr. of Gainesville, Russell Jimerson of Gainesville, Jason Garrigus of Sanger, California, Tiffany Garrigus of Union City, Tennessee, Major Brandon Yockel of San Antonio, Texas, Kristopher Yockel of Taichung, Taiwan, Bradley Holden of Gainesville, Billy Wight of Gainesville, great-grandchildren, Blanton and Micah Jimerson of Gainesville, Tatum McQuillian of Gainesville, Mason Jimerson of Lula, Jax Garrigus and Alex Garrigus both of Union City, Tennessee, Jamie Yockel, Owen Yockel, Eli Yockel all of San Antonino, Texas, Cyrus Wight of Gainesville, and sisters, Elizabeth Couch of Gainesville, and Mary Dickenson of Gainesville.
