Ethel Justus Puckett

Ethel Justus Puckett, age 101, of Buford, GA passed away Friday, December 13, 2019.

She was preceded in death by husband, Stanford Puckett; parents, Ben and Lillie Justus; son-in-law, David Layton; sister, Lurline Beard; and brother, Hayward Justus. Mrs. Puckett is survived by daughters Phyllis Puckett Layton, Buford; Pamela Puckett Henderson, Dacula, GA; four grandchildren, Scott Phillips, Buford, Katie Phillips, Buford, Lisa Reents, Mableton, GA, Jennifer Bailey, Buford; six great grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Justus Franklin, Dacula, and Ann Justus Morgan and husband, Bobby, Buford; sisters-in-law, Judy Puckett Martin, Buford and Bernice Terry Puckett, Suwanee, GA; brother-in-law, Larry Puckett and wife, Brenda, Sugar Hill, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Mrs. Puckett was born on August 4, 1918 in Hoschton, GA.  She was a 1937 graduate of Buford High School. She was a retired beautician, having worked for Viola Cheek Beauty Shop for approximately twenty years. Mrs. Puckett was the oldest member of First Baptist Church in Buford, where she was a member for eighty-seven years. She was member of WMU at First Baptist and of the Abundant Life Fellowship as well as being a former Sunday School teacher.  She was a charter member of the Silvertones Choir, and she delivered Meals on Wheels. Also, Mrs. Puckett took cancer patients to doctors’ appointments. 

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Buford on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Johnson and Mr. Dale Jones officiating. Mrs. Puckett will lie in state at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church General Fund in memory of Ethel Puckett.
