Uel Zelotes Hester, Jr

Mr. Uel Zelotes Hester, Jr., age 91, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at New Horizons of Limestone following an extended illness.   

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow at 1:30 pm in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.  Minister Ron Cope and his son, Mr. Tim Hester will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.    

Mr. Hester was born September 15, 1928 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Uel Zelotes Hester, Sr. and Lila Booher Hester.  He served in the U. S. Navy and was a retired Church of Christ Minister.  Uel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Pauline Newton Hester, his brother, Kenneth Hester and son-in-law, Ross Reeves.      

Mr. Hester is survived by his daughter, Sharon Reeves of Madison, Georgia, his son & daughter-in-law, Tim & Nancy Hester of  Decatur, Alabama, daughter & son-in-law, Jill & Chuck Wilson of Gainesville, his brothers & sisters-in-law, Jerry & Shirley Hester of Florence, Alabama and Ronnie & Dorcas Hester of Franklin, Tennessee and sister-in-law, Dana Hester of Rome, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory be made to Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ, P. O. Box 7450, Chestnut Mountain, Georgia, 30502.
