Gwendolyn Buffington Ferguson

Gwendolyn Buffington Ferguson age 89 of Gillsville passed away Monday Nov. 25, 2019 at the Manor Lakes Assisted Living.

Mrs. Ferguson was born May 28, 1930 in Gillsville to the late Charles Alma & Winiferd Buffington. Gwendolyn graduated with a Masters of Education and retired from Barrow County School Systems as a School Administrator. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev.Jerald Dean Ferguson & daughter, Twylita Ferguson Gee.

Survivors include, husband, Carter Butterworth, daughter& son in law, Tonita & Michael Buffington of Gillsville, son in law, Horace Gee of Gainesville; brother & sister in law, John “Jake” &Shirley Buffington of Gillsville; sister, Laynette Williams of Gillsville; grandchildren, Chrisondra (Billy) Ransom, Andrew (Cara) Ferguson, Whitney (Will) Chapman & Matthew Gee, great grandchildren, Haylee Ransom, Mason Ransom, Skylar Chapman, Emmitt Chapman & Lyla Ferguson. A number of nieces& nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 30, 2019 at the Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Marshall Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 Friday Nov. 29, 2019 at the funeral home.
