Mrs. Ella Garrett, age 88, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Mrs. Garrett was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on January 5, 1931 to the late Willie and Hannah Grizzle Berry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Loyd Hoyt Garrett; son-in-law Doyle Butler; brothers Leon Berry, Newt Berry, and Frank Berry; sisters Viola Fields, Cleo Rice, Joyce Barrett and Beveleene Beasley. Mrs. Garrett had worked for many years at Burlington. She was a loving mother and "Granny". Mrs. Garrett loved spending time gardening and fishing. She always fished with a cane pole and Jay Bridge and Cane Creek were some of her favorite places to go fishing. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Nimblewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and L.C. Truelove, Dahlonega; daughter Linda Joyce Butler, Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-laws Kenneth and Autumn Garrett, Dahlonega, Doug and Pat Garrett, Dahlonega, and Donald and Tammie Garrett, Dahlonega; sister Willie Mae Davis, Dahlonega; grandchildren Jodie and Ashley Truelove, Rev. Kris and Deana Butler, Amy and Casey Hubbard, Nathan and Wendy Garrett, Jennifer and Jay Kaji, Mitchell Garrett, Melissa Garrett, and Brittany Garrett; great-grandchildren Kaden Truelove, Kennidee Truelove, Peyton Truelove, Weston Truelove, Abby Butler, Chelsea Hubbard, Gus Hubbard, Aiden Kaji, Kiran Kaji, Lilly Garrett, Maddie Garrett, and Ema Grizzle; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
