Mrs. Shelby Smith Fields, age 79, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Mrs. Fields was born in Dalton on February 22, 1940 to the late Rev. J.C. and Lovenia Smith. She was also preceded in death nineteen years ago by her beloved husband David R. Fields, who she was married to for forty-two years, and her brother Harold Smith. Mrs. Fields deeply loved her family. She loved to cook for them and gave them her greatest asset, her time. Mrs. Fields retired from the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her daughter Pat Bryan; son and daughter-in-law David and Rachel Fields, both of Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Billy Cantrell, of Ellijay; grandchildren Karen and Andrew Antonia, Drew Bryan, Caleb Fields, Jadeyn Fields, Janica Fields, all of Dahlonega; and great-grandchildren Addilaide Antonia and Anniston Antonia, both of Dahlonega. Nephews William and Beverly Cantrell and Chris Cantrell all of Ellijay.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Edwin Puckett, the Rev. David Masters and the Rev. David Fields will officiate. Interment will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
