Linda Louise Thacker City passed away on November 8, 2019. She was born on September 30, 1948 in Bloomington, Indiana. She graduated from Worthington-Jefferson High School in 1966. Linda was a devoted mother and homemaker for many years. She led the Indiana National Council on Youth Leadership, taught community parenting classes and volunteered in her children’s schools as a room mother for a combined total of 25 years. She spent many hours serving others. At the age of 56 she launched a second career as a financial planner. She was very successful, and in 2007 was one of 10 women in the United States named as a “Woman of Distinction” in her field. Linda was well known for her organizational and management skills. Her “tell it like it is” personality was loved and appreciated by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Jeffrey City, as well as her children and their spouses. Ashley and Bill Rowlett, Nathan and Tisa City, Karen and Keith Martin will miss their mother’s quick wit and words of wisdom. Linda was also blessed with 8 grandchildren. Allison, Blake, Carter, Clark, Baine, Emmett, Ella, and Rhett will miss Nana’s hugs, support of their activities, and her macaroni and cheese.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. City will be transported to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, IN for funeral service and interment following visitation.
