Alice Mae Hadden Reinshagen, age 98, passed away November 6, 2019 at her home in White County. She was born on May 27, 1921 at her big Antebellum home in Valley Junction, Iowa. Her Father, who was born in 1862 was Mayor and owned and operated the local bank. She graduated high school in 1938 and college in 1942 with a degree in education.
In 1946 she married the late Alfred S. Reinshagen. Together they raised two sons, Jerald Reinshagen, MD, and Ronald Reinshagen. In addition, she was the proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 8 great-grandchildren. During the fifties and sixties, Alice was involved in teaching nearly every grade in the Miami School System. In 1971 she moved along with her family to White County, where she taught 4th grade until her retirement in the eighties.
Many of her students have become educators and successful businessmen and women. Many of her former students, some of which are reaching retirement themselves, credit her with instilling both confidence and inspiration. She enjoyed talking to people and loved to engage in healthy conversation. Her favorite saying was “Good better best, Never let it rest, till your good is better and your better is best.”
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 16, 2019 beginning at 4:00 P.M. with funeral services to follow at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Alfred, at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, New York.
