Piero Guasti, 87 years old, died peacefully in the early hours of October 28th, 2019. Piero was in hospice care due to worsening Alzheimer’s symptoms. His wife and daughter were by his side, holding his hands at the time of his passing.
Piero was born on December 21st, 1931, in Genova, Italy as 1 of 6 siblings, to Rosa and Alfonso Guasti. His parents and siblings all preceded him in death.
Piero lost his mother at a young age, but she had taught him to respect and be kind to everyone. That is exactly how Piero lived his life; Piero had an enormous heart and he touched everyone who came to know him. He lived a full and prosperous life in Brazil for 60 years until he moved to The United States 10 years ago. Piero was a man of many jokes but few words, but those he interacted with knew the love and appreciation he had for them in the way he could make anyone smile. Growing up in post-war Italy, his life was full of adventures that, until recent years, he kept to himself; he began entertaining many friends and family and fascinated anyone who would listen to his tales of times passed. In one way or another, Piero was always able to instill knowledge into those around him from the stories he told or just by everyday actions he took. He put family before everything and had strong moral values of hard work and respect which lives on through his family.
Piero was a lover of nature and his dedication to the plants and earth around him inspired his children and grandchildren to love their environment. He was and artist and though he did not know it, he put his 3 children on a path of creativity of their own. He was a handyman who fixed his daughter’s broken bicycle and kept things running smoothly when nobody else could. He was a provider for his family and no matter how hard times were, he ensured the family never wanted for anything. But most importantly, Piero was a loving father and husband. He is survived by his wife Bjorg Guasti, children Marina Fagerberg, Filippo Guasti, and Camilla Guasti-Nugent, and grandchildren Amanda Guasti-Nugent, Karen Fagerberg, and Lucas Fagerberg.
A celebration of life is planned to be held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2019, at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming GA, at 4:00 PM.
Piero’s family wishes to acknowledge, with love and gratitude, all of the amazing people who assisted in the care of Piero over the past few years and in the last month of his life. Your love, kindness, support, and efforts were, and are a priceless gift.
