General Mardy Crumley, age 88, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019.
Mr. Crumley was born on February 17, 1931 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Roy and Orlie Wells Crumley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Holcombe Crumley. Mr. Crumley retired from the United States Marines achieving the rank of Master Sergeant serving 22 and a half years. He also worked for over 10 years for the Demorest Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier. Mr. Crumley was a member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post 7720, serving in many officer positions; He also served as State Commander of the Department of Georgia VFW and the Grand Commander of the State of Georgia Military Order of the Cooties.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jo and Clarence Arrowood, of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Hollie Crumley, of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Hal Cason officiating. Interment will follow in VFW Memorial Park in Demorest.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
