Barry Alan Stewart

Mr. Barry Alan Stewart, 67, of Oakwood passed away Thursday, October 17th, 2019. A memorial service will be held on November 2^nd at 2:00 pm at Liberty Bible Church, Stephens Road, Oakwood, Georgia.

Born on April 13, 1952 in Gainesville, GA, he was the son of the late William Edward Stewart and Laneta Ethelene Whitfield Stewart. He was a self-employed hospitality consultant and a member of Cross Pointe Church.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Elaine Cason Stewart, of Oakwood; sons, Barry Andrew Stewart of Atlanta, Brian Anthony Stewart of Dallas, TX; step mother, JoAnn Stewart of Decatur, sisters, Nancy Stewart Davis of Gainesville, Cindy Stewart (Jim) Mayo of Asheville, NC, and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other relatives.

Barry’s friends and family will always cherish his sense of humor, which will live on in every pun said in his honor. His devotion to sports and his family often intertwined. He attended the Masters Golf Tournament every year for 20 years, surrounded by loved ones. He also religiously attended his sons’ soccer games, there in the wind, rain, heat and cold to cheer them on. After retirement, he explored the great outdoors with his wife and close friends and dominated as the self-proclaimed MVP of his weekly trivia team. Throughout his whole life, he loved his sisters nearly as much as he loved their fudge. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all those who knew him.
