Fermon Brookshire, age 85 of Gainesville, Ga. died Friday, October 11, 2019 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm Sunday October 13, 2019 in the Little Davenport Chapel, The Rev. David Skinner and Rev. Gary Coffee will officiate and internment will follow in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday October 12 from 4 to 8 pm.
Mr. Brookshire was born August 17, 1934 in Forsyth County Georgia to the late Jessie and Lula Gravitt Brookshire, He served in the US Army in the Korean war. He also worked at Georgia Chair Company and with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a born again Christian and attended several local churches of the years.
In addition to his parents Mr. Brookshire was preceded in death by wives, Blanche (Parks) Brookshire of 10 years and Winnie (Garrett) Brookshire of 47 years, twin brothers, Ray and Clay Brookshire and Granddaughter, Angie Brookshire.
Survivors include son and daughter in law, Randall and Deborah Brookshire of Gainesville, Doug Brookshire of Cumming, daughter and son in law, Anita and Gary Smith of Cleveland, daughter and son in law, Nona and Richard Turk of Gainesville. Grandchildren Ryan (Mistie) Brookshire, Keith (Liz) Brookshire, Mary (Chris) Wingo, Cody (Brittany) Brookshire, Suzanna (Alex) Brookshire, Amber (Stephen) Hopper, Alan (Cassie) Smith, Ethan Smith and Macy Turk as well as 11 Great grandchildren; Brother and sister in law, James and Ruby Brookshire of Gainesville and a host of other relatives of the Parks and Garrett families.
