John Anthony Dowdy

Mr. John Anthony Dowdy, age 60, of Villa Rica, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019.

Mr. Dowdy was born in Lithonia, GA on May 30, 1959.  He was preceded in death by his father John Wesley Dowdy.  Mr. Dowdy loved fishing, enjoyed working and was proud of the projects and structures he helped build across the country.  He was retired after 30 years from the Iron Workers Local 387 in Atlanta, GA.  He was a member of Hunters Creek Baptist Church, Carnesville, GA.

Survivors include his mother Joyce Railey, Newnan; daughter and son-in-law Emily and Adam White, Villa Rica; sister Lynn Harned, Lavonia; brother and sister-in-law Vincent and Sheila Dowdy, Maysville; brother Noel Dowdy, Newnan; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Tommy Childress, and the Rev. Kevin Couch will officiate.  Interment will follow in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 AM to service hour at the funeral home.
