Martha “Clezell” Harwell

Obituary Date: Monday, September 30, 2019

The family is heartbroken to announce the death of Martha “Clezell” Harwell of Lula, GA on September 30, 2019 at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her family as she gained her angel wings.

She was born March 15, 1936 in Cleveland, GA to Drue and Myrtle (Winkler) Lunsford. She attended Perry Business School and went on to work for First National Bank, Milton’s, and eventually retired from the Hall County School System as a bookkeeper. She married the love of her life, George Harwell, on May 8, 1954, and together they raised two daughters and a son.

She had a selfless and giving spirit. She was a loving mother, patient grandmother (especially in those teenage years!) and doting great-grandmother. She enjoyed endless books of sudoku, “galavanting” with her special friend, getting her hair done at the beauty shop, bowling, among many other things, but most important to her was being surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Drue and Myrtle Lunsford, her husband, George Harwell, her brother Randy Lunsford, and her sister Margaret Turner.

She is survived by her special friend Ray Holland of Clarkesville; daughter Lynn Harwell Waters, of Gainesville, daughter Pam Harwell, of Lula, son Chris Harwell, of Clermont; four sisters: Dot Harwell of Gainesville, Ann Culpepper of Clermont, Deloris Simpson of Gainesville, and Jonnie Sue Ash of Hiawassee; four grandchildren: Blair Reynolds (Torona), of Dahlonega, Ryan Reynolds (Casey), of Gainesville, Lindsey Richardson-Weston (Brian), of Lawrenceville, and Justin Richardson (Randi), of Oakwood; six great-grandchildren: Ayden & Tobin Reynolds of Dahlonega, Avery, Shelby, and Jackson Weston of Lawrenceville, and Harlie Richardson of Oakwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3 from 6-8 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville.

Services will be Friday, October 4 at 11:00 am at the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
