Bernice Smith

Mrs. Bernice Minter Smith, age 87 of Bend n Hickory, Toccoa passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Habersham Home East in Demorest, Georgia.

A daughter of the late Ben and Myrtle Minter, she was born May 21, 1932 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, Meme and great Meme. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Brown Smith in 2000, by two sons, Terry Brown Smith and Jerry Lloyd Smith, one sister, three brothers and son-in-law, Rick Holbrooks.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Vickie Holbrooks and Susan and Darren Dickerson both of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carla Smith of Demorest; grandchildren, Brooke Cogswell, Lauren Maxwell, Courtney Watkins, Wesley London, Zach Smith, Josh Smith and Chandler Smith; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Breman of Woodstock, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 4 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty and Mr. Ray Whiten officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Dale Maxwell, David Cogswell, Austin Watkins, Craig Watkins, Zachary Smith, Josh Smith, Chandler Smith and Wesley London. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers, Brooke Cogswell, Lauren Maxwell, Courtney Watkins, Kesley Watkins and Baylee Cogswell.

The family will be at the home of Vickie Holbrooks, 99 Cane Break Drive, Toccoa and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Bernice Minter Smith.
