Lavell Ayers Payne

Mrs. Lavell Ayers Payne, age 91 of Brookdale, Toccoa passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at The Veranda in Carnesville, Georgia.

A daughter of the late Ernest and Lila Kesler Ayers, she was born January 6, 1928 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County. She was retired from General Telephone Company and was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Payne in 1987 and by a brother Gerald Ayers.

Survivors include two sisters and brother-in-law, Hellon and Joe Defoor and Emmie Dewberry both of Toccoa; nieces and nephews, Gail Shirley of Charlotte, North Carolina, Patricia Smith, Diane Whitfield, Roy Defoor and Danny Dewberry all of Toccoa and Sheila Jones of Cleveland.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Danny Dewberry, Roy Defoor, Jerry Smith, Edward Shirley, Jason Whitfield and Chris Jones.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lavell Ayers Payne.
