Betty Ann Shockley Strickland

In the still of the night, God opened up his pearly gates and dispatched his angels to gather flowers from his garden with a soft and tender whisper, God called Betty! Betty! Betty! Betty! Come rest my child! Betty Ann Shockley Strickland answered God’s call on September 12, 2019 following an extended illness.

Betty Boop as she was so affectionately called by James was born on February 15, 1952 to the union of John and Christian Shockley in Gainesville, GA. She attended Gainesville city schools, worked in various fields but this was not as satisfying as being a caring mother. Betty lost her parents at an early age. She was raised by two loving women who raised her as their own. Mrs. Mary Jane Cantrell and Mrs. Mildred Thomas. Betty was a kind, gentle and caring person who accepted Christ at an early age. She had such a humble and loving spirit.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents John and Christine Shockley, sister Mary Harris (Pie) and Joyce Thomas. She leaves her cherish memories a loving husband of 20years James F. Strickland; Two sons Brandon(April) Strickland of Lawrenceville, GA, Joshua( Brittani Niles) Collins of Gainesville, GA; Grandchildren: Jayla Collins of Gainesville, GA, Braydon Strickland of Clarksville, Brandon Strickland Jr, Ayden Strickland, and Amijah Strickland all of Lawrenceville, GA; In laws: Curtis( Frankie) Strickland, Curtis(Celeste) Strickland Jr. and Eartheria Ann Finch all of Gainesville, GA. Brothers- John Robert Harris( Creet), Kenny Thomas. Sister- Rosa Lee Cantrell all of Gainesville, Ga. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
