Victor Howard Henderson

Obituary Date: Sunday, September 1, 2019

Cleveland Funeral Home & Cremation Services announces that Victor Howard Henderson, 88, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Vic went to high school in Clinton, TN, where he fell in love at first sight with his wife of 63 years, Dot Carden Henderson.  After high school, Vic proudly served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War.  Vic then joined Southern Railway where he spent his entire career, retiring in 1987 from what is now known as Norfolk Southern.  Shortly after retirement, Vic and Dot moved to the mountains of north Georgia, spending the next 24 years living in Skylake, Sautee GA.  Those were absolutely the best years of their lives, where they both volunteered with the Forest Service, were active at Cleveland United Methodist Church, sold a little real estate, traveled the US, and spent many great times with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and wonderful friends in the Sautee community.  Vic lived a full life, impacting many folks along his journey.  His gentle demeanor made everyone he touched feel loved and accepted - a trait that we can all learn from as we challenge ourselves to be better Christians and caring people.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dot Henderson. By his son Terry Reese Henderson, brother Frank Henderson and grandchild Michelle.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his children Tammy Henderson of Norcross, GA and Tim Henderson (Karen) of Alpharetta, GA. Also, by his siblings Alvin Henderson of Huntsville, AL, Wanda Wilson of Asheville, NC, Mary Boyd (Jimmy) of Powell, TN, and sister in law Marie Henderson of Tullahoma, TN.  He is survived by three grandchildren Katherine, Brandon, and Brianna. He has six great grandchildren Ansley, Emerson, Cardyn, Kenleigh, Brody, and Chloe.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.
