He was a graduated of Gainesville High School and graduated from North Georgia College with a bachelor degree in physical education. He served in the military as a 1st Lt during the Korean War. Every child deserves a grandpa like Pops! He knew just how to show his grandchildren (and great grandchildren) how much he loved them. Pops loved to read and he passed this love onto his grandchildren as they eagerly came to Sunday night dinners and he would read the funny papers he saved for them earlier that morning. Spending the night with Nene and Pops was always a treat! Nene would cook yummy food (and dessert, of course) while the grandchildren helped Pops feed their many animals. He loved his animals, being outdoors and could literally grow anything! Many meals were made for the family using ingredients from the gardens he and Nene cultivated together.
Adventure always awaited whether roaming the pastures with Pops or going to the feed store with him. Though his physical health limited his movement in his past few months, he always found a way to play with his great grandchildren. Using his "grabber" and his walker, he would put the great grands on it and wheel them around. He had an infectious laugh and loved to hear his great grandchildren laugh! Pops read to his great grandchildren like he did his grandchildren and even shared the story of Tangleye to the next generation. His fun-loving spirit, tall tales, love of the outdoors, animals, reading, and funny dances will continue to live on through his family, which he loved so much- especially our grandmother, Nene.
EW is survived by his wife Ruth, children Michael (Robbye) Puckett of Gainesville, Karen (A.J.) Miceli of Orlando, Florida and Beth (Tony) Webb of Gainesville, his grandchildren Ginny (Michael) Stump of Gainesville, Alex (Sylvia) Puckett of Lula, Ley (B.J.)
