Lavonia H. Mundy

Lavonia Hamilton Mundy passed away August 10, 2019.  She was the daughter of the late Lillie Whelchel Hamilton and was a life-long resident of Gainesville.  Mrs. Mundy graduated from Gainesville High School in 1941 and married the love of her life, Horace Mundy, shortly thereafter.  They built their family together in the Gainesville area and remained sweethearts until his death in 1985.  Lavonia was fiercely devoted to her family and her Lord.  She lived to care for those she loved.  Cooking and baking were well known to be two of her many gifts, and no one left her house hungry.  She had a zest for life that has been passed down to all who knew her.

Mrs. Mundy was a member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanine Mundy Jackson (David); grandchildren Lillie Hamilton Jackson, Birmingham, AL and William Taylor Jackson, Atlanta; brother Charles Lee Hamilton, Gainesville, FL; a cherished nephew Casey Hamilton, Gainesville, FL, and a host of extended family.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the love and care she received from the angels on earth at The Resting Nest.  They loved our precious loved one as their own.

Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Monday August 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Stacey Cox officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eagle Ranch, 5500 Union Church Road, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
