Edmund Smith

Mr. Edmund Smith, age 93 of Highway 184, Toccoa passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A son of the late Marcus D. and Emma Taylor Smith, he was born October 4, 1925 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, retired from Toccoa Casket Company with 45 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. He loved gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Ida Mae Shirley, Minnie Thacker, Jason Smith, Carlie Smith and Edern Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years of the home, Jean Simpson Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Walter Jester of Toccoa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwain and Lynn Smith of Toccoa and Carl and Connie Smith of Snellville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Justin Smith, Logan Smith, Alexandra Jester and Katlynn Jester; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 7, 2019, 3:30 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Joshua Garner officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Justin Smith, Logan Smith, Earl Smith, Irvin Isbell, Billy Shirley and Jonathan Gathany.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Edmund Smith.
