Gwendolyn “Gwen” Herron Burgess

Mrs. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Herron Burgess, age 82, of Toccoa, previously of McDonough,  passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born June 14, 1937 in Elbert County, GA, she was the daughter of the late N. R. and Fay Smith Herron.

Gwen was a 1955 graduate of Stephens County High School. She was married for 61 years to the love of her life, Joe.  She loved her family fiercely.  “Mimi” as she was known to her grandchildren, was humble, witty, and sharp.  This sweet lady, who loved flowers, gardening, and sewing, will be greatly missed.

Family members include her husband, Joe D. Burgess; son and daughter-in-law, Bob Burgess and Kris of Locust Grove, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Beth B. Bellamy and Mark of Clarkesville, GA; grandsons, Eric Burgess, Jarrett Burgess, Kyle Bellamy and Jessica, and Brett Bellamy and Emily; great-grandchildren, Max Bellamy, Elsie Bellamy, Milo Bellamy, and Lucy Bellamy.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Imogene Graham; and brother, Kenneth Herron.

A memorial service will be held at three o’clock Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Timothy Graham officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1pm until the service on Saturday.
