Mary Evelyn Maddox Bennett Porter, age 85 of Commerce, GA passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Born on June 5, 1934 in Carnesville, GA she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Millinette Lowe Maddox. She is the widow of J.C. Bennett and Randell Porter, a housewife, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Woods; brother, Joe Maddox; sisters, Annie Ruth Chapman, Kathleen Maddox and Geraldine Silvey.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Lonnie (Betty) Bennett, Helen, GA, James (Cathie) Bennett, Las Vegas, NV, Jonathan (Tracy) Bennett, Nicholson; daughter and son-in-law, Pam (Charles) Scarborough, Hartwell; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Thompson, Rev. Wayne Durden and Rev. Lonnie Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
