A memorial service for Raymond (Rick) Arza Post II, age 69, of Lake Burton, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Harris and Rev. Coby Gilleland officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm prior to the service. Surrounded by family and friends, Rick passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born in Washington, DC on October 4, 1949, Mr. Post was the son of the late Lt. Colonel Raymond Arza Post and Willa Virginia Post. He attended Albany High School and graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University. Rick was a loyal and passionate Georgia Bulldog fan, rarely missing a home game at Sanford Stadium. Rick was very active in the White County Republican Party and the State GOP. An intelligent, energetic and unstuffy diplomatic voice for local and state politics, Rick’s influence was far reaching in the political arena. Rick chose to make a difference not a fuss in the political field, working behind the scenes to better the communities that he served and lived. He served on numerous committees and chaired many local campaigns in White and Rabun Counties. He was an alternate delegate to the 2012 Republican National Convention. Rick was a member of the Rotary International and was a former Paul Harris Fellow Award winner with his club in Cleveland. While serving as a member of the board of directors for the White County Chamber of Commerce, Rick was a pioneer for the revitalization of downtown Cleveland. Rick adored Lake Burton and boating with his friends, cherished his time at St. Simons with family and friends, and revered the time that he spent in Marathon, Florida. Were Rick still with us today, he would be encouraging all of us to do your best, follow your arrow and make something amazing out of your life. Oh, and never stop smiling….
