Mr. William “Bill” H. Long, age 84 of Prather Bridge Road, Toccoa passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Beehive Assisted Living in Toccoa.
A son of the late Arlie P. and Mae Kellar Long, he was born March 19, 1935 in Stephens County, Georgia. He was a 1952 graduate of Toccoa High School and a graduate of Southern Tech. He resided in Corinth, Mississippi for 42 years and the last 16 years in Toccoa. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving as a Cryptographic Machine Repairman. He began his career with Wurlitzer Organ Company in Corinth Mississippi and retired from Diversified Technology in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in both Corinth and Toccoa and a former member of the Kiwanis Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Keifer Mae Davis Long in February of this year.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tommy Wofford of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and Carrie and Frank Maturo of Darien, Connecticut; son and daughter-in-law, William A. “Andy” Long and wife Christy of Saltillo, Mississippi; grandson, Ben Wofford and wife Samantha of Raleigh, North Carolina; sister, Peggy Pelfrey of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 27, 2019, 11 O’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend David Ritcey and The Reverend Brett Sanders officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ben Wofford, Tommy Wofford, Frank Maturo, Barron Harbin, Jerry Snell and Harold Garland.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service time. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. William “Bill” H. Long.
