Rev. Terry Michael Fields, age 61, of Dahlonega went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends.
Terry was born in Hall County on April 6, 1958. He was preceded in death by his father Rev. JR Fields, brother-in-law James Armstrong, father-in-law and mother-in-law Alvin and Faye Self. Terry was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School. He worked for Standard Telephone for twenty-seven years before establishing his own business, Fields Landscaping Company, which he operated for fourteen years.
Over thirty years ago Terry surrendered his life to God’s call upon him to carry His word. He was ordained in October of 1994. For twenty-eight years he faithfully served local churches in various communities. His ministry as pastor began at Friendship Baptist Church. Terry would then pastor Hightower Baptist Church, Duke’s Creek Baptist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and again at Hightower Baptist Church. It was at Hightower that Terry began his courageous battle with cancer. He could no longer pastor, but he remained a faithful member of the church.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years Gina Self Fields; son and daughter-in-law Blake and Kayela Fields; son Chad Fields; grandchildren Malachi Fields, Caroline Fields, and Coleman Fields; mother Bertie Mae Fields; brother and sister-in-law Ricky and Sheri Fields, all of Dahlonega; special friend, cousin, and brother Jeff Brown (Connie); sister-in-law Sue Armstrong; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bobby and Deborah Self; Phillip and Gaylena Self, and Michael and Julie Self, all of Dahlonega; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Phillip Robinson, the Rev. Terry Head, and the Rev. Tony Allison will officiate. Interment will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Burt officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday and also on Wednesday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
