James “J.R.” William West, Jr

James “J.R.” William West, Jr., age 71, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

J.R. was the son of the late James William West and Mary Frances West of Gainesville, GA.  He was preceded in death by his brother Roderick Craig West. 

He is survived by his sister Sandra Stang and brother-in-law Donald Stang of Edina MN; his nephew Erik Stang and wife Heather and their children Harrison and Hayleigh Stang of Cumming, GA and his longtime companion Linda Krotki of Athens, GA.

J.R. honored our country with his military service in Vietnam where he was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star medal.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation time is planned for Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA.  A chapel service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA
