Mr. William Wyone Brooks Barber, age 93, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton, surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Redwine United Methodist Church. Rev. Bryan Smith and Rev. Andy Whit will officiate. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the church. Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2019 at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, with Military Honors.
Bill was born December 28, 1925 to the late Preston & Odis Barber in Oakfield, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, former member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church and was presently attending Redwine United Methodist Church. Bill was a graduate of Georgia Tech and upon graduation began a 36 year career with Lockheed – Georgia. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Cobb County Squadron, McCollum Field and an avid aviator. He loved to fly, travel, hunt, fish and spend time at his farm in Lumpkin, County.
Mr. Barber is survived by his wife, Ruby Messer Barber of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Don Taylor of Fernandina Beach, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and John Donaldson of Woodstock; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ginny Barber of Gainesville; and son and daughter-in-law, Pearl and Philip Barber of Gainesville, granddaughter and husband, Dr. Deborah Barber Shores and Major Douglas Shores and great-granddaughters, Daria and Daniela Shores of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandson, Keith Barber of Gainesville and granddaughter, Julia Barber of Altamonte Springs, Fl.
