Marshell Aretha Smith was born on May 13, 1964 and transitioned from this life on May 19, 2019.
She was the loving daughter of the late Cluster and Willie "Nell" Smith. She attended Johnson High School and was known for her unique sense of humor and friendly personality. Her beautiful smile warmed the heart of many and she never met a stranger. She worked as a cook at Ryan's in Commerce, GA for over 20 years and absolutely loved her valued customers. Her hobbies included singing, dancing, cooking, strolling the park, and entertaining her family. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and greeting everyone with the infamous "How You Doing?" Marshell was full of life and she will greatly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Cluster and Willie "Nell" Smith, sister Chris Barnett, Aunt: Priscilla Nicely, and sister: Chris Burnett.
She had a heart of compassion for her family and enjoyed spending most of her time with them. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved "Poke" (Patrick Buffington, Sr.); her two sons: Patrick Buffington and Joshua Deshon Buffington; her granddaughter; Shay Buffington; her sisters: Jackie Smith and Cynthia Smith; brothers: Cluster (Holly) Smith, Kenny Smith, and Greg (Nicole) Smith; great-aunt: Christine Lipscomb; great uncle: McArthur Lipscomb; aunts: Annie Austin, Dora (Jobe) Nicely-Ponder, Landa (Terry) Maddox,, and Rose Wright; uncles: Otis Wimberly, Tony Bailey, and "Johnny Doll" Watkins; nieces: Breonna (Anthony) Smith Morgan, Kayla Kelly, Kaysey Smith; nephews: Keenan Randolph, Rashad Smith, Brent Kelly, Nigel Smith, Kendrick Smith, and Jayden Smith; and a host of extended family and friends. Marshell accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and she spent the later days of her life praying and testifying of His goodness.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Gethsemane FBH Church at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Wimberly Funeral Home between the the hour of 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
