Robert Marvin Edwards of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away at home on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the age of 78 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Washington, DC the son of Allan Page Edwards Sr. and Edith Gertrude (Weaver) Edwards. After spending his childhood in Oxen Hill, Maryland, he attended Surrattsville High School in Clinton, Maryland, graduating in 1959. Courageously, Bob served his country as a naval aviator for six years. He worked for more than 30 years as a Product Manager for Potomac Electric Power Company. In his retirement, he enjoyed working as a bus driver for Gwinnett County Public Schools and as a Property Manager for Reagan Medical Center at Hamilton Mill.
Bob was a loving husband, a faithful father, an adoring grandfather, and a true friend. Those who had the privilege of knowing Bob were always blessed by his wisdom and care. He will be remembered for his abundant generosity, his hearty laughter, his intense love for people, and his enduring faith. He loved many. He was loved by many.
Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances Edwards and by his three children Amy Andrews, Gregory Edwards, and Lisa Smith, his sons in law Matthew Andrews and Taylor Smith, daughter in law Staci Edwards, and his six grandchildren Sarah Grace Andrews, Brianna Andrews, Josiah Andrews, Izabelle Edwards, Zoe Edwards and Theodore Smith.
The family will receive visitors at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel 3481 Hamilton Mill Road, Buford, Georgia 30519 on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00am at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Interment with naval honors to follow service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in honor of Robert Edwards to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
