Mr. Dan Sumpter Vandiver, age 81, of Lula, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Mr. Vandiver was born in White County to the late Lat and Harriett Houston Vandiver. Besides parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim Vandiver and Buzz Vandiver, and sister, Peggy Irvin. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and served in the US National Guard. Mr. Vandiver was a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Miriam Vandiver, Lula; son, Bruce Vandiver, Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Dana Vandiver, Lula and Lawrence and Jennifer Vandiver, Cleveland; grandchildren, Seth and Miranda Vandiver, Ethan and Ashley Vandiver, Brooke Vandiver, Justin Vandiver, and Megan Vandiver; great-grandchildren, Xander Vandiver, Gabe Vandiver, Asa Vandiver, Seth Vandiver, Anniekate Vandiver, and Reed Vandiver; and sister, Vivian Smith, Cleveland.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11am Friday, May 31, 2019 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Walton McNeal and Rev. Don Landen will officiate. Interment will follow in Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the funeral home.
