Mr. Roger Lester Hemphill, age 80, of Cherokee Drive, Eastanollee, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his residence.

A son of the late Lester J. and Bernice Segars Hemphill, he was born July 14, 1938 in Stephens County where he lived his entire life. He was a 1956 graduate of Toccoa High School, was Owner/Operator of Hemphill Superette for 23 years and later Hemphill and Son Trucking, Inc. Roger was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Encouragers Sunday School Class He was preceded in death by a brother Jack Hemphill and two sisters, Mildred Pruitt and Inez Payne.

Survivors include his wife Sara Watkins Hemphill of the home, two daughters Sandra and Pete Brown of Hartwell, GA, Cindy and Richard Wansley of Martin, GA, son Randy and Stacey Hemphill of Toccoa, GA, eight grandchildren Brandon Wansley, Jordan Wansley, Lesley Brown, Katelyn Brown, Logan Brown, Chandler Brown, McKenna Hemphill and Olivia Hemphill, two great grandchildren Brynley Wansley and Avery Wansley, two sisters, Jean Worthy of Hiawassee, GA, and Joan Agnew of Toccoa brother Horace Hemphill of Eastanollee, GA

Funeral services will be 11:00 O’clock Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Reverend Andy Childs and Mr. Mike Worthy officiating. The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM. Online condolences may be made. www.acree-davisfh.com

The following will serve as pallbearers, Brandon Wansley, Jordan Wansley, Logan Brown, Chandler Brown, Chris Hemphill, Ken Agnew and Heath Lyles. Members of the Encouragers Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort.

Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Mr. Roger Luther Hemphill.
