Doris Lee Milam Mertens

Doris Lee Milam Mertens, 90, passed away on May 23^rd, 2019. Doris “Nana” as many called her was born on March 3, 1929 in Alexandria, LA and was the eldest of 8.  She loved life, loved playing cards and shopping, extremely supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Bryant Milam, her husband of 62 years, Douglas Edwards Mertens, sons, Rodney Blane Mertens and Edward Lee Mertens. 

Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen Jeanell Mertens Cash and son-in-law Ernie Cash, grandchildren Natalie McCall and her husband Joey McCall, Emily Rowe and her husband Michael Rowe, and Miranda Cash.  Great-grandmother to Austin Cash, Colton McCall, Lily Watts, and Weston McCall. Brother Lester Milam, sister Betty Thornhill, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Hwy, Ball, LA 71405, on Tuesday, May 28^th from 11-12 and service time will start at 12:00.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 4000 Memorial Hwy. Ball, LA 71405 at 1:00. Please join us to celebrate Nana and the wonderful life she lived.
