Norma Doris Christopher

Norma Doris Christopher, age 92, of  Buford, GA, was born on January 16, 1927 in Buford, GA  and passed away Monday, May 20, 2019.  She graduated from Buford High School.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie Christopher and Vesta Johnson Christopher, Buford, GA; sisters, Dot Duncan, Buford, GA, Ann Standridge, Winder, GA.  She is survived by nieces, Norma (Harold) Monroe, Buford, GA, Dottie Jackson, Buford, GA, Sherry (Steve) Jackson, Winder, GA; nephews, Chris (Kay) Standridge, Buford, GA, Bobby (Shari) Standridge, Winder, GA, David (Cathy) Duncan, Buford, GA; several great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.  Norma worked her entire work career for Southern Railway and eventually Norfolk Southern Railway as a keypunch operator.  She received numerous commendations throughout her career for exemplary work.  She was a member of the Railroad Women’s Business Association.  Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church, Decatur, GA.  She enjoyed traveling and being with family.    Norma lived for twenty-five years at Clairmont Oaks Senior Apartments in Decatur, GA where she had great friendships with the staff and many friends who all added so much to her life.  Thanks to all the caring staff and management of Angels Garden for her recent care.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, 5979 New Bethany Road, Buford, GA 30518 with Dr. Bill Neal officiating.  Family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the funeral home.
