Ivan Buddy Samples

Mr. Ivan Buddy Samples, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019. Buddy was born in Cumming, GA on June 18, 1926. Buddy was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the 1940’s.

While he spent his younger years in Cumming, he then spent his later years in Gainesville, GA working as a maintenance engineer for Holiday Inn. It was there that he met Betty Bryan. They were side by side until she passed away in 2017.

Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bryan; his parents, Silvia and Minnie Samples; his brothers: Luther Sam “Luke” Samples, Arthur Benjamin “Bean” Samples. His sisters: Rooney Samples Holloway, Ronnie Samples Richards, Lunnie “Bill” Samples Phillips, Athalena Samples Smith, Ruth Samples Green, and Joyce Samples Day.

He is survived by his sons: Terry Samples, David Samples, and Gary Samples. His daughters: Kathy Owens, Connie Moon, Jackie Spencer, and Joan Samples. Grandchildren: Shalena Samples Densmore, Reginia Samples, Amanda Hart, Travis Nichelson, Corey Moore, Magan Moon, Melissa Fulton, Gary Bates, Steven Lee Cargle, Crystal Samples, Elizabeth Baker, Claude Wilson, and Gregory Scott Wilson. His also survived by a number of great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA.  Joey Heard officiating. Family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30am.
