William Dean Stowers, age 88, of Dunwoody, Georgia, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
Dean “Dean-o” was born April 24, 1931 to Harold Marlon Stowers and Nellie Kate Owen, in Dawsonville, Georgia. After graduating from Dawson County High, Dean attended night school at the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia. Dean was an avid lifelong Bulldogs fan from his time as a boy in Dawsonville through has final days. He was a resident of Dekalb County for 62 years and a Charter member at Lakeview Baptist Church. Dean retired from Southern Motor Carriers as Chief of Tariff Bureau after 46 years of service starting off in the file room.
Outside of work and in retirement, Dean could be found most days either golfing, fishing, or spending time with family and friends at his lake home on Lake Allatoona in Cartersville. Dean was a proud patron of the Master’s Tournament in Augusta for over 50 years and was a member of the Senior Golfer’s Association of Atlanta. Dean was also a two-time past master at the Master’s Masonic Lodge #295 and a dedicated Shriner.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold Marion Stowers; mother, Nellie Kate Owen and sister Sandra Sue Stowers; former wife and lifelong friend, Tina Stowers. Dean will be dearly missed by his daughter, Sheila Stowers McIntosh (Michael); brothers, Dennis Stowers (Betty Jean), Jerry Stowers (Patricia), George Stowers (Jo), David Stowers (Linda); grandchildren, Elizabeth Hendrix (Jason), Capt. Joshua Veal (Sarah), Jason Veal (Emma); great- grandchildren, Maddie, Nolan, Ella, Ava, Finley, Chance.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 12:00 PM at the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. The family will receive friends that same day from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
