George Rodney Watson, age 79, of Rosedale Street in Toccoa, Ga. passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at The Oak’s Personal Care Home in Baldwin, Ga.
A son of the late Oliver F. and Eula Wood Watson, he was born July 2, 1939 in Clarke County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County, Ga., He graduated from Toccoa High School in 1957 and later attended Emory University. Mr. Watson was a retired insurance agent, later worked for Lowe’s in Cornelia, Ga., and served in the Georgia National Guard for number of years, and a member at Toccoa First Baptist Church. His family was very special to him and he devoted his life to caring for his wife of fifty six years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rogers Watson of the home, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Traci Watson of Winder, Ga., Philip and Doogie Watson and Mark and Jourdain Watson all of Brunswick, Ga., four grandchildren, Thao-Nhi, Xavier, Liam, and Davis, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Mary Ann Watson of Martinez, Ga. and Gene and Gwen Watson of Lakemont, Ga., and by a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Ray Sasser of Clarkesville, Ga.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019, 2:00 P.M., in the Hillcrest Chapel of The Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Reverend David Ritchie officiating.
The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers, Jay Watson, Phil Watson, Mark Watson, Davis Watson, and Mike Kennedy.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4th. and also prior to the service Sunday from 1:00 p.m.until 2:00 p.m.
