Joseph “Jay” G. Longo

Obituary Date: Sunday, April 28, 2019

On Sunday April 28th, Joseph “Jay” G. Longo, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 76 in Cumming, Ga.  Joseph was born on August 7, 1942 in Dunmore, PA.   He was a veteran of the Unites States Airforce, and attended the University of Scranton.  Joseph spent 37 years as a steel worker for Bethlehem Steel Corporation located in Steelton, PA.   In October of 1966 he married Linda L. (Nissley) Longo and raised a son Craig M. Longo in Middletown, PA.

Joseph was a member of Mensa, along with being an avid craftsman, he took pride in his woodworking skills, and enjoyed spending time in his workshop creating projects for his family.  Joseph enjoyed watching football, boxing, and UFC events.   He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, compassionate spirit, and the ability to impart great wisdom and advice to his family members.  

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Joseph, and mother Anna.  Joseph is survived by his wife Linda, sister Ann Marie, nieces Stephanie, Bryan, Brandi-Jo, Tracie, Cheryl, and Jill, along with his son Craig, daughter-in-law Jeanne, and his two grandchildren Andrew and Morgan who he absolutely adored.

A private service, for only the immediate family, will be held on May 6th, 2019 at his place of internment, the Georgia National Cemetery Canton, GA. In leu of flowers donations to the American Diabetes Foundation is encouraged.
