Michael Andrew Teare (50) of Buford, GA passed away on April 26, 2019 at Seasons Hospice in Cumming, GA after an extended and courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born in Charleston, SC and was a long-time resident of the Atlanta area.
He will be missed by his mother Kathleen, sister Katie and brother-in-law Clay, aunt Chris, and many additional family members. Michael found tremendous pride in being a devoted uncle to his niece Ashley and nephews Alex and Brandon. They will sincerely miss his support and daily involvement. Michael was also an honorary and dedicated uncle to Grace and Isabelle Sheer. He considered his countless friends to be extended family. They fondly called him “Teare” and his loyalty to them was unwavering. Michael was known by all for his compassion, quick wit, and outgoing nature.
Michael worked in Property Management for KPDK and Atlanta Partners, enjoying wonderful friendships with his coworkers and many customers. He had several hobbies that filled his time: fishing, watching sports, playing softball, cooking, trivia, traveling, music, walking his beloved dogs, and he could be found most Saturday mornings supporting local farmers’ markets.
Driven to help others, Michael volunteered his time throughout his life to many causes, such as animal rescue, youth baseball teams, fine arts organizations, cooking schools, and community gardens. He felt very strongly about caring for our environment and encouraged all to recycle, restore, reuse, and repurpose.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Chaplain Jennifer Hornbuckle will officiate. We ask that you honor Michael’s memory by donating to the American Cancer Society or any local animal rescue group.
