Ruth Underwood McEntire

Ruth Underwood McEntire, age 83 of Cornelia, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019.

Born in White County, Georgia on August 20, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Milton Fletcher Underwood & Flora Bell Presley Underwood Ivie. Ruth was retired from Scovill Fasteners with many years of service and a member of White Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, & devoted Nana. Ruth’s happiest moments were spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, working puzzles and was a wonderful cook.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George Randolph McEntire, son, James Randolph McEntire, sisters, Ella Wilson, Hazel Hicks, Nell Caudell and brothers, Hoyt, Ed, & Thurman Underwood.

Survivors include her son, Jerry McEntire of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Amanda McEntire McCormick & David McCormick of Marietta, GA; Anna McEntire & Cody Balis of Murrayville, GA; great-grandchildren, Charlotte & Michelle McCormick; Lonnie Balis; brother, Ernest Underwood of Demorest, GA; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Charles McEntire of Clarkesville, GA; Gary McEntire of Demorest, GA; Larry & Nancy McEntire of Panama City Beach, FL; Ila McEntire of Demorest, GA; Ruthelene McEntire of Clarkesville, GA;  several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Fortner & Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
