Mr. Hoyt Ravan, age 76, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Mr. Ravan was born in White County on March 29, 1943 to the late Gordon Wesley and Edna Nina Butler Ravan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Roger Ravan. Hoyt retired from the University of North Georgia where he worked as an HVAC Technician. He was a faithful member of Nimblewill Baptist Church. Hoyt deeply loved his family and his grandchildren affectionately called him “Pop”. Hoyt loved to hunt and fish. He deeply loved his many friends and he had a motto he held dear to his heart, “Friends are worth more than money”.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Ann Ravan; son Billy Ravan; daughter and son-in-law Misty and Marty Young; granddaughter Ellie Young; grandson Will Young; brother Ronald Ravan, all of Dahlonega; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Nimblewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Mickey Wheeler, the Rev. Kris Butler, and the Rev. Roger Shadburn will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
