Mr. Thomas Dewey Stevens, age 71, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019.
Mr. Stevens was born in Hall County on October 4, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father J.J. “Bud” Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a building contractor. He was the founder of Dewey Stevens Construction. Mr. Stevens’ passion was raising and tending his cattle. He also enjoyed antique cars, a hobby his dad passed on to him.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sabra Christy Stevens, Dahlonega; son Jonathan Stevens, Murrayville; daughter and son-in-law Kaye and Jeff McClain, Dahlonega; mother Olene Hulsey Stevens, Murrayville; grandchildren Blake Sargent, and Brittany McClain (Jonah Grindle); great-granddaughter Charlee Tate Sargent; sister and brother-in-law Teresa and Michael Cook, Murrayville; brother Joel Stevens, Murrayville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Philippi Baptist Church. The Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Stevens will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
