Helen Tench McGaha

Helen Tench McGaha, age 83 of Cornelia, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Born in Cornelia, Georgia on August 17, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Hezekiah & Viola Ivie Tench. Helen lived in Cornelia & Atlanta all of her life and was retired from Bell South/AT&T. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen also loved traveling & vacationing. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Tench O’Neal, and brothers, Dewey Tench, Dan Tench, & Hoyt Tench.

Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, Douglas McGaha of Cornelia, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Sandra Hogan Cochrane & Scott Cochrane of Johns Creek, GA; Donna Hogan Glaze & Dan Glaze of Lilburn, GA; sister, Doris Tench Stamey of Demorest, GA; brothers, Douglas Tench of Chamblee, GA; Donald Tench of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Rachel Cochrane, Alex Cochrane, & Sarah Cochrane, Brian Glaze, & Jessica Glaze Godfrey; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Chris York & Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Nix officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
