Mr. Vernon Grady Osborne, age 89 of West Currahee Street, Toccoa passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
A son of the late Grady and Edna Poole Osborne, he was born October 3, 1929 in Banks County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran having served in Germany. He retired from Tabor Motor Company after 25 years of service. He attended Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margurite Cothran.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Smith Osborne of the home; brother-in-law, R.D. “Bulldog” Smith and wife Sandra of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 19, 2019, 11:00 O’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral with The Reverend Stacy Penland officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Oscar Barrett, Lane Goss, Titus Penland, Jerry Owenby, Bryan Thompson and Larry Earhart. Honorary pallbearer will be Gerald Turner.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Flowers are to be omitted. Memorials may be made to the church of one’s choice.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. Military Honors at the graveside by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
